Whoever Humbles Himself Will Be Exalted

“Do not put yourself forward in the king’s presence” (Prov. 25:6–14). Rather, take the lowest position at the table. Humble yourself before Him. For your place is not for you to take but for Him to give. Conduct yourself with all lowliness and gentleness, bearing with one another in love (Eph. 4:1–6), that the King may give you glory in the presence of those at the table with you. “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted” (Luke 14:1–11). Is this not the way of Christ? He is the one who took the lowest place, who humbled Himself even to the point of death for us. He is now exalted to the highest place at the right hand of the Father that penitent believers may be exalted together with Him in the resurrection. To the humble at His Supper He says, “Friend, move up higher,” giving you His very body and blood for your forgiveness that you may ascend to take part in the great wedding feast which has no end.

+ Catechesis & Midweek Meals on Wednesday began September 9 with a meal at 5:15 p.m. There are classes for all ages. Everyone is welcome!

+ 2026 Reformation Festival Trinity will be hosting this year’s Reformation Service November 1, 2026, at 4 p.m. A sign-up sheet will be in the Narthex to sign up for the meal following the service. If you would like to sing in the choir, extra practices are scheduled. We will meet in Trinity’s choir loft October 11 & 18, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and October 28, 5-6 p.m.

+ Daughters of Grace All young women (~college age to 40ish) are invited to attend a Wichita-area Bible study group affiliated with Lutheran Women in Mission. The group will meet October 11 at 3:30 p.m. in the classroom at the Westlink branch of the Wichita Public Library. For more information, contact Mary Jensen.

You can choose your offering amount or enter your own amount. You can even set it up to donate monthly! If you would like to add a small donation to Zeffy, you may, but it is not required. + Craft Club On October 19th, bring your own craft to work on and join us for an hour of fellowship and crafting fun in Trinity’s fellowship hall at 6:30 p.m. Cookies and tea will be served; all ages welcome. + Liturgical Living The Liturgical Living women’s group will meet on Sunday September 27 at 2pm at Trudy Unruh’s house. We will be learning about St. Michael and All Angels. Come if you desire to explore with fellow Lutherans how we might extend the liturgy into our everyday lives.

+ A Note From the Goscha’s Gregg and Marie Goscha would like to thank our Trinity family for all of the faithful prayers and support over the last couple of years during Gregg's battle with MDS/MPN (2 rare forms of blood cancer). We are thankful for his medical teams both in Wichita and in Houston. We will be relocating to Houston for the next 4-5 months as Gregg begins the next phase of his treatment which includes a Stem cell transplant. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers as we face this next battle. We will miss our Trinity family tremendously. Soli Deo Gloria

+ Men’s Retreat Registration is open for the 2026 Lutheran Men's Retreat on October 16th and 17th at Rock Springs Ranch near Junction City, Kansas. This year's speaker will be Rev. Dr. Jordan Cooper of Just And Sinner and AALC. Rev. Dr. Cooper will be giving a 3-part introduction to the fields of Dogmatics, Apologetics, and Polemics. Plan to join Lutherans, young and old, men of Kansas, for two days of theological education, discussion and fellowship.
