Weekly Update for Grace & Trinity

18 December 2020
*Friday of Gaudete*

Dear Saints and Friends of Grace & Trinity,

The Fourth Sunday of Advent
† Rorate Coeli †
Deuteronomy 18:15-19; Philippians 4:4-7; John 1:19-28

Our introit antiphon for this Sunday calls for the heavens to rend and pour down righteousness and for the earth to open, that righteousness may sprout forth (Isa 45:8). Righteousness from above and from below to us from God—that’s our last Advent preparation for the celebration of God becoming man. How is it that righteousness is to come from above and from below if not in God descending from heaven and taking up flesh from earth? The Word who created the heavens and the earth is the same Word, in the flesh of Jesus, who redeems us and gives us to share in His righteousness. That’s what we’re praying for this Sunday. *Join us at 8am at Grace and 11am at Trinity to participate in this righteousness of God become man.*

Bible Study is at 9:30am at Grace. We’re in chapter 11 of the Revelation of St. John. Please join us!

  • Here’s an article and an interview by Dr. Joel Biermann, a professor at the Seminary in St. Louis on the effects of the virus and the lock-downs on the Church. You’ll find both well worth your time.
  • As part of its year-end campaign, the Eighth Day Institute is pushing for 100 new members before the end of the year—we’ve already added 43! As President of the Board, I wrote an appeal letter, which you can read here. Membership rates range from $5/month (Student) to $100/month (Pillar), with a number of options in between. Please do consider becoming a member of this tremendously unique institute here in Wichita.

Prayer Requests…

  • For safe travel for Nikki and the kids as they are en route to MI at the moment.
  • For Tom & Miriam Nickel, recently diagnosed with COVID.
  • For Dave Norris’ cousin, Mike Love, found unconscious Thanksgiving morning. He’s been in hospital ever since while they tried to figure out why. He’s regained consciousness and is improving. But he had a setback earlier this week and has been transferred to another hospital. He has a brain bleed and is having mini strokes.

Many blessings and much joy to you all in Christ our life,
-Pastor
